Licensed Psychologist Executive Director The Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania
Session Description: Energy psychology (for this workshop we’ll focus on EFT or “tapping”) is a bottom up approach that rapidly calms the body and restores balance when people are under stress or dealing with trauma. With over 125 studies these mind-body meridian tapping approaches have been shown to be incredibly effective for treating, anxiety, stress, depression, pain and PTSD for adults, couples, adolescents and children. In this workshop you will get a brief review of the research showing that it works, the theory of why it works, the many applications where it can be used and a “map” of how to use EFT as a self help tool and as a clinical tool within the 3 phases of trauma treatment. These approaches are a game changer in helping people rapidly return to their better selves. Attendees will discover how they can help clients rapidly reduce negative affect and restore balance without resorting to using substances. We will review how to teach clients to use EFT as a self help tool as part of a Phase 1 intervention and how they can use EP/EFT to treat traumatic memories and events themselves as part of phase 2 of trauma treatment. Participants will also learn how to map EFT on to relapse prevention protocols as part of phase 3 of trauma treatment.
